I use a humanistic and integrated therapeutic approach tailored to meet the needs of each client. This integrative approach will assist the client in developing a new awareness and insight around their presenting issues. I hold a space that is safe, warm, and confidential, where the client’s needs are at the forefront of the counselling. I join each client on their personal journey walking alongside them bringing support, insight and clarity. Through discussion and exploration, I will help you clarify your own beliefs, values and priorities, arriving at a place where you can claim your personal freedom.

I draw from a number of theoretical approaches including: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Emotional Regulation Techniques, Therapeutic Mindfulness, Client Centred Approach, Existential Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Somatic and Self-regulation.

Grief & Loss

Loss is a common experience in our lives, and one that most of us are not prepared to deal with. As you navigate the process of grief and loss we can work through the stages in a gentle way. Loss has many forms, although the more common ones that we think of are the death of a loved one, the diagnosis of a serious health issue, or ending a relationship.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

The onset of PTSD symptoms may occur immediately after the event, or it may occur weeks or even years later. A way to think about the PTSD experience is that it is an anxiety state where the person's nervous system is stuck in the response to trauma. There might be nightmares, flashbacks, or intrusive thoughts about the event and more

You should feel a sense of safety and connection with your therapist. However, don’t take your first session as an indicator whether or not you and your therapist are a right fit. Remember at first it may feel awkward to reveal your thoughts, give it at least three sessions. You should feel like you can be yourself and honest. Your therapist should make you feel that you’re in a judgement free zone where you can freely express what you feel and think.

The answer to this question will depend completely on your situation. Therapy isn’t something that needs to last forever. Your therapist should help you determine what goals you are working on and help guide you to reaching them.

I currently don’t run out of an office. I do online / virtual counselling.
